Flag

">
The flag of the People's Republic of China is the "Five - Starred Red Flag(δΊ”ζ˜Ÿη΄…ζ——). It was designed by Zeng Liansong. Mao Zedong hoisted the first flag on a pole overlooking Tian Am Men Square on the day for its unveiling. The design uses red as its background and golden for its stars. Each of the stars have five points in the upper left corner. The star on the left is larger than the other four. The red color of the flag symbolizes revolution and the blood of heroes who died during the revolution. The fact that the political power of China was achieved through the blood of revolutionary martyrs who fought heroic struggles for the revolution. The golden - yellow colour symbolizes the glorious history and culture of the Chinese people. The larger star symbolizes the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The four smaller stars that surround the big star symbolize the four classes of Chinese that were considered by Mao Zedong at that historical time. There are workers, peasants, petty bourgeoisie, and national bourgeoisie. The most popular modern explanation is the four stars represent the four occupation: farmers, workers, teachers, and soldiers. An explanation under a more historical context is the four stars represent the traditional four categories of the people in the states, which are workers, farmers, intellectual, and businessmen. The stars are yellow as an indication that the cause of socialism has a bright future in China.

We have the national emblem except the flag. The national emblem of the People's Republic of China is Tian An Men in the centre illuminated by five stars and encircled by ears of grain and a cogwheel. The ears of grain, stars, Tian An Men and cogwheel are pained golden, and the inner part of the circle and hanging ribbons are painted red, because these two colours are traditional Chinese colours representing auspiciousness and happiness. Tian An Men symbolizes the unyielding national spirit of the Chinese people in their fight against imperialism and feudalism. The ears of grain and cogwheel represent the working class and the peasantry. The five stars stand for the great unity of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC.
